May 11, 2020 Update:
The City of Vancouver remains committed to support free parking for all VCH staff and physicians. However, changes have been made to restrict other users from the exemptions being offered to health-care workers.
If you park within the broader area around VGH, please print page 3 of this document for a dashboard sign reading “Health001”. This should prevent you from getting a ticket in residential zones. However, if you do get a ticket, please continue with recent procedures to have them cancelled. (Please see instructions under Parking Updates on the staff-support/parking-transportation intranet page).

April 28, 2020 Update:
VCH and the City of Vancouver remains committed to support free parking for all VCH staff and physicians. On April 28, Vancouver City Council voted to reinstate parking meter charges. While this change is expected to take affect this week, VCH staff can continue to park for free. If you park at a parking meter during your work shift, you are not required to pay.
Healthy Authority Staff are allowed to park in residential permit areas …until further notice. If they do get a ticket, submit it to Aurthur who will get it cancelled. (If the vehicle is not parked legally – at a stop sign or too close to a crosswalk – then the ticket will not be cancelled).
If you receive a parking ticket, please send a photo of the ticket to email@example.com from your VCH email or if using a personal email please add your VCH email address to your message and hold onto it until you receive confirmation it was cancelled. The city is investigating a way to use PayByPhone to register VCH staff – stay tuned.
The cities of North Vancouver, Vancouver and Richmond will minimize patrols of parking regulations in the neighbourhoods around our hospitals. If staff or physicians are ticketed during a work shift, the fine will be waived.
- Never block a fire hydrant, stop sign, loading zone, no-stopping area or driveway.
- If you are ticketed by the city or have a recent, unpaid ticket:
Mobi Bike Share – Free 90 day trial
Mobi by Shaw Go has launched the Essential Services Membership Program, which provides essential service employees with a free 90-day pass for the Mobi bike share program in the urban core of Vancouver. The goal is to provide a quick and convenient transportation option, and when tied into a transit commute, this offers a healthy break from crowded buses or SkyTrains! All VCH staff are eligible for the program.
To sign up, visit https://www.mobibikes.ca/essential and create an account. Enter the promo code vchheroes90 when prompted. The promo code only works for the 90-day pass and is case sensitive. This program allows for unlimited rides of 30 minutes or less – i.e., a 40 minute journey would require that the bike be docked close to the 25 minute mark before another bike is selected. A credit card is required as overages may be incurred for rides that last longer than 30 minutes. The pass does not auto-renew.
Mobi bikes are located within the area north of 16th Ave. between Macdonald St. and Victoria Drive.
