How can physicians be reassured that they will not be penalized or stigmatized for being unable to work?

Stigma is an issue we’re keeping an eye on, and we’re currently trying to develop policies fit for our environment. Having said that, we must remember that it’s up to us to be part of the solution. Please refrain from judgement — this is a virus, not a moral issue. Anyone can get it. Be accepting of your colleagues, people at school, or whomever in the community that has contracted COVID. We can also avoid vilification by having essential conversations before these situations arise. By openly preparing a plan for if and when a team member tests positive or is exposed, we can create a culture of safety and support.
