Vaccine & breastfeeding

Q: Do you recommend COVID vaccine routinely to all breastfeeding moms?

A: For most people, getting a vaccine is the safest choice to protect them from COVID-19. The Canadian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (SOGC), the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) and public health experts in B.C. all agree that people who are pregnant and breastfeeding can get the vaccine.

For more information, refer to the BCCDC Vaccine Considerations website and the COVID-19 vaccine planning guide for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Medical Staff Q&A were generated during the March 10, 2021 medical staff forum.

The AV recording of this and previous forums, as well as full transcripts and a running list of Q&A, are available on the Intranet site and Slack.
