Q. When will the visiting restrictions change for our mental health patients? One hour a day and one visitor is not in this population's best interest.

A. The mental well-being of our clients and patients is essential. They should be able to have visitors. New guidance for visitors to acute care was released on Aug. 30. There are no more essential versus social visits; they're all just visits, and you may have two visitors at a time (other than in critical care and emergency where it is limited to one). If the restrictions at your site still follow the outdated guidance, reach out to your Public Health, IPAC, or your People Safety representative and, we'll help rectify the current practices.
