The Medical Staff Practice Enhancement (MSPE) program provides medical staff assessment & feedback for awareness and insights about their practice that can inform proactive practice improvements.
MSPE is:
- For individual learning and professional development
- A mandatory component of being a medical staff at VCH and Providence Health Care (Medical Staff Rules 5.7)
- Part of departmental quality improvement activities
- Confidential, including reports and discussion
| MSPE is NOT: - Intended for performance reviews
- Used for credentialing and privileging
|
MSPE offers three tools:
1. Multi-Source Feedback: a questionnaire-based tool that gathers feedback from colleagues and coworkers anonymously to strengthen their understanding of their medical competencies based on the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons CanMEDS Physician Competency framework*.
2. Practice Profiles: a snapshot of medical staff's individual practice that covers a set of metrics as determined by the department to give insight on the practice in relation to peers.
3. Patient Reported Outcome Measures: patient feedback about their health outcomes as a result of treatment or intervention to give insight to medical staff on their impact on patients care.
Medical staff are encouraged to translate their assessment and feedback into action by identifying learning goals and developing action plans or quality improvement opportunities.
Contact the Medical, Quality, Leadership and Practice Team at medicalquality@vch.ca for more information on how to participate and get involved.
