Start with Self-Assessment

At Vancouver Coastal Health, we understand the importance of building self-awareness to improve your overall well-being. That's why we offer a variety of tools to help you on your journey towards greater self-awareness. Here are three of our top tools:

  • Multisource Feedback (MSF), or 360-degree evaluation, is a questionnaire-based assessment tool for all medical staff designed to strengthen medical staff understanding of, and support their success in demonstrating the necessary competencies for medical practice. It involves in-depth self-assessment and perspectives from medical colleagues and coworkers. Feedback is anonymous and confidential. Every medical staff member must complete the MSF every 6 years.

  • Strengths Deployment Inventory (SDI), is an assessment that is recommended for any medical staff who is interested to build their capability in developing self-awareness. Upon completing this assessment, you will gain more clarity about you inner motives, strengths, overdone strengths portrait and conflict management approach. As you develop your self-awareness, you will better understand why you behave certain way and how you build relationships with others. Please note there are costs associated with taking this assessment, which will be recharged to your department.

  • Leadership Development Index (LDI), is an in-house tool designed for medical leaders in a formal leadership role to help them enhance their leadership capability through collecting anonymous feedback from the coworkers and colleagues specifically around their leadership behaviors only.

  • Psychologically Safe Leader, is an assessment designed for medical leaders in a formal leadership role to develop their capability around building trust when leading others. This tool has been developed by the National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace to ensure medical leaders understand and know how to create an environment in a way that is psychologically safe to all medical staff members working with this leader.

Below please see the recommended approach of using the tools linked to your leadership stream and experience. If you are interested to take any of the assessments, please contact us HERE
