​​​​​​Recognizing the need for enhanced mental health support for Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) staff and medical staff (dentists, midwives and nurse practitioners), VCH’s counselling and individual wellness services transitioned to an external accredited EFAP provider, LifeWorks (formerly Morneau Shepell) on June 1, 2021. VCH staff and medical staff (dentists, midwives and nurse practitioners) and their families can now access counselling and individual wellness services through LifeWorks by calling 1-833-533-1577.

Similar to the VCH EFAP program, LifeWorks provides short-term, solution-focused counselling services, in-person and virtually, and a host of other comprehensive health and wellness services and supports, including a 24/7 crisis line.

As part of the new program, LifeWorks’ digital platform is launching today, July 8, and will offer personalized health and well-being content across a broad range of topics including mind, body, relationships, finances and work.

Getting started​

  1. LifeWorks will be sending everyone with a VCH email address an invitation to join the platform with a unique code. This code is only for you – please do not forward the invitation.

  2. If you are interested in participating in the platform, follow the instructions in the invitation to sign up using your unique code.

  3. Once you have completed the signup, you can access all of LifeWorks’ online services.

Through the platform, you can access LifeWorks’ free confidential support 24/7 from anywhere on mobile or web, with trusted, expert-led online audio, video and article content, as well as wellness tools, assessments and programs.

What’s next?

Starting August 1, 2021, LifeWorks will begin to offer critical incident stress management (CISM) and other group wellness services.
Until July 31, if you require critical incident or group wellness services from VCH EFAP, please request an appointment by contacting us at booking@employee-wellness.ca or (604) 872-4929 or 1 (800) 505-4929 (available 24/7).
