There are several steps involved in moving to British Columbia from outside Canada to work as a health professional:
Once you accept a formal job offer in BC, a health authority must sponsor you. They will then obtain a Labour Market Opinion (LMO) approval from Service Canada for your application.
You can then apply to the nearest Canadian consulate for a temporary work permit.
You will need to have a medical examination completed by a designated medical practitioner. This may also be required for your spouse and children.
How long is the process?
You can expect the process – from the time you accept a position to the time you arrive in British Columbia – to take approximately six to eight months.
