Earlier this year, we introduced an increased transit subsidy of up to 75 per cent, available for all active part-time and full-time staff and medical staff, as well as temporary relief staff who currently own a permanent position but are in a relief line. As a result, we have now been certified as a Transit-Friendly Employer by TransLink.
We are proud to lead the way in corporate social responsibility and do our part to cut congestion and act on climate change.
Transit plays an important role in moving people to and from work – around 20 per cent of work trips in the region are made by public transport. By reducing the cost of taking transit, we hope that more staff will incorporate transit into their commutes, or as part of their commute. Since the increased transit subsidy was introduced, approximately 2900 staff and medical staff have enrolled in the program.
Benefits of taking transit to work:
- Reduced costs related to gas, vehicle wear and tear and parking
- Improved health and wellness
- Decreased personal climate impact and a healthier community and environment for everyone
- Less stress related to traffic and finding parking
