LearningHub Account Setup & Management
Q: Do I need to create a new LearningHub account if I already have one?
A: No. Use your existing account but ensure it is set to "Employee"If you've used multiple accounts, merge them into one. If you are a direct employee of a BC Health Authority, it is expected you verify your account so that your administrator can track your Learning History.
Q: How do I merge LearningHub accounts or update my profile?
A: Visit LearningHub Profile Management to merge accounts, update your role to “Employee," and verify employment.
Q: What if I haven't received login credentials from IMITS?
A: You can create your own LearningHub account using your UBC or work email. Use the same email for all training registrations.
Q: What should I do if I have multiple accounts or email addresses on Learning Hub?
A: Having multiple Learning Hub accounts or using different names or email addresses can cause complications, such as delays in course completion records and reimbursement processing. If you have multiple accounts, you may need to merge them together. Please follow the instructions on the Learning Hub Merge Accounts page to submit a Learner Support ticket. For additional support, please see Learning Hub for help.
Q: Why is verifying employment important?
A: It links your LearningHub account to your employee record, ensuring proper tracking and reimbursement.
Required Training & Curriculum
Q: What training is mandatory for residents?
A: All residents must complete the Resident Doctors OHS/Violence Prevention Training curriculum, which includes eLearning modules and a virtual classroom session.
Q: What if I completed similar training in a previous residency?
A: The curriculum was updated in 2021. If your training predates this, you may need to retake it. If you have certificates, send them for validation.
Q: Do I need to complete the eLearning modules before the virtual session?
A: Yes, it's strongly recommended to complete the modules beforehand to fully benefit from the session.
Q: How long after completing the course will it appear on Learning Hub?
A: Course completion should be reflected on Learning Hub within one to two weeks after attending the webinar. Attendance and participation are required to formally record course completion.
If your attendance and participation cannot be verified, you will receive an email notifying you that you must register for and attend another session.
Q: Where do I report my completion of OHS training?
A: In most cases, once you have completed the required curriculum and any additional training through Learning Hub, your completion will be automatically recorded, and no further action is required. However, reporting requirements may vary depending on which health authority you will be completing your first rotation. If you are unsure whether you need to report your completion, please contact the appropriate resident safety lead for guidance (see Key Contacts & Support section).
Virtual Classroom Orientation
Q: Is the “Classroom Orientation" in-person or virtual?
A: It is a virtual session delivered via MS Teams. The term “classroom" refers to the format, not the location.
Q: How do I register for the webinar?
A: After registering on LearningHub, you'll receive a confirmation email with a webinar registration link. You must complete this step to receive the MS Teams invite.
Q: What if I missed my scheduled session?
A: You can cancel and re-register for another session. If the system blocks cancellation (within 48 hours), contact the coordinator for assistance.
Fit Testing
Q: Can I complete my respirator fit test outside BC?
A: No. Fit testing must be done in British Columbia due to provincial standards and approved N95 models.
Q: What health authority should I list for fit testing?
A: Use the health authority of your first rotation site. For example, if you're at St. Paul's Hospital, select Providence Health Care.
Reimbursement & Employee ID
Q: How and when will I be reimbursed?
A: Reimbursements follow the same process as regular payments and are typically included with your initial payment. However, delays may occur if there are inconsistencies in the information you provide—such as using different names or email addresses when registering for training or attending the orientation webinar.
To help ensure a smooth reimbursement process:
- Register for the Occupational Health and Safety Orientation and Violence Prevention Training Webinar using your full legal name.
- Use the same verified email address that you used to create your Employee Learning Hub account.
- Have your VCH Employee ID number ready to provide during registration.
If you have any questions about reimbursements, please contact ResidentsHRSupport@vch.ca.
Q: What if I didn't enter my employee ID number during registration?
A: Your VCH Employee ID number is essential for verifying your identity and ensuring your reimbursement is processed correctly. If you didn't enter it during registration, please be prepared to provide it upon contact.
- Use this guide to find your employee ID number.
- Important: Missing or incorrect information—such as your name, employee ID number, or email address—may result in delays to reimbursement.
General Questions & Special Cases
Q: Who can I contact for questions?
A: For general safety training inquiries, residents can contact Humberto Ramirez (Humberto.Ramirez@vch.ca) or the People Safety Team (PeopleSafety@vch.ca). For residents outside the VCH region, please refer to the Key Contacts & Support section for appropriate regional safety leads.
Q: I'm a clinical fellow. Do I need to complete this training?
A: Fellows may not be required to complete the same training. Please follow the guidance of your training supervisor.
Q: I'm unable to attend any of the virtual sessions. What should I do?
A: Complete the eLearning modules and register for an in-person PVPC-P session once you arrive in BC. This is an accepted alternative.
